Hi, I’m Derek Rowley, founder of Pinnacle Business Coaching, LLC and the Pinnacle Business Academy. Before launching Pinnacle Business Coaching, I spent over three years writing and developing the coaching curriculum and Academy course material based on my own experience and research to help new and first-time entrepreneurs avoid the common pitfalls of many startups, grow their businesses and achieve success.

With all the turmoil in our economy recently, right now there are more people than ever out there trying to start their own business - just like over 20 years ago. As an entrepreneur myself, I’ve developed, launched, grown and operated multi-million dollar businesses. In the last 20 years, my companies have helped over 30,000 other new businesses get started. In a way, this coaching program is a combination of all the things I wish I had known before I ever started in business for myself.
But that’s not all. I developed the Pinnacle Business Coaching program as a principle-based coaching system to not only launch and grow new businesses – but also to launch and grow people, as well!
The principles behind Pinnacle Business Coaching also give entrepreneurs a balanced-life focus and greater overall happiness. I am as interested in building my clients as I am in building their businesses – because I know from my own experience that you can’t do one without the other!
As a small business consultant, I have personally worked with well over a thousand companies over the past 20+ years. Though I no longer do individual consulting, when I did, I charged a minimum of $300 per hour to handle delicate negotiations, strategic planning, financial analysis, marketing, website development, write business plans and employee handbooks, conduct market research, and much more. Now, I have used these experiences to develop a business coaching system that is unlike any other.
I wrote a book several years ago, The Nevada Corporation Handbook (Strategic Press) which has sold more than 25,000 copies in nine editions and is widely considered the foremost treatise on Nevada business entities – it is sold by and used as a training manual for many incorporation companies in Nevada.
I have also written Seven Stupid Things Entrepreneurs Do to Ruin a Perfectly Good Business, which is available as a free E-book on this website, and have a forth-coming book, The Nevada Business Entity Handbook, coming out soon. I have also written and other business and religious works, including By Man Least Understood, a book that speaks of my own personal faith and religious beliefs.
My passion for business actually started while attending high school in Carson City, the State Capitol of Nevada. Beginning in 1979, I began working as an attache’ for the Nevada State Senate, where I saw up-close the impact that government and the political process has on businesses and individuals. My legislative work for the Senate spanned from 1979 to 1989, where I watched closely as government and fiscal policy was crafted, negotiated and adopted. I also had the opportunity to observe and learn from the top business lobbyists in the state, who patrolled the legislative halls to promote and protect the interests of business and industry. I learned of the dramatic impact that government policy has on private enterprise, and developed a desire to have an impact on both.
During the 1989 and 1991 sessions of the Nevada Legislature, I also worked as the state legislative correspondant for CommerceClearingHouse (CCH), providing daily updates, histories and summaries on every aspect of legislation before the state body. I have also been a correspondant for the magazine, Offshore Finance Canada on business strategy and planning issues.
Since 2002, I have served as the president of the Nevada’s largest business association, the Nevada Registered Agent Association (NRAA), which represents over 200,000 Nevada companies. One of my crowning achievements as NRAA president has been the adoption of Industry Best Practices that contain recommendations regarding the service standards and marketing practices for companies in the Nevada incorporation industry. I have been active in the Nevada political process and have written and successfully lobbied bills that now contain many of Nevada’s revolutionary laws regarding corporations, limited liability companies and limited partnerships.
Some consider me to be the “father of the corporate charging order”, and the leading expert on Nevada’s incorporation industry. I have been interviewed in local and national media on issues related to the incorporation industry.
