Lew Hains
Lew was born and raised in Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Ogden High School. He attended college at Weber State University and BYU, but quit a semester short of a degree in Business Management, to go to work. Lew has been in business all of his life; as a proprietor, franchisee, consultant and coach.
He was offered a position as restaurant manager by Craig Foods, a company that held an area license from Taco Time International, Inc. In the restaurant business, He learned the importance of customer service and how to control food and labor costs. He said he learned more in his first year on the job, than he had in four years of College. After a couple of years with them, he went to work for Montana Franchising, Inc. managing restaurants in Butte Montana.
While there, Craig Foods offered him a franchise that was available in St George, Utah. He took a look at it, and with the help of an SBA loan, bought the franchise for Taco Time in St. George. His first year owning his own business, was like getting a post graduate degree. It was like the first year in business after college, but he realized that when you have to pay all the bills and meet the payroll, it is real life. He operated that business for nearly twenty years and served on the Franchise Advisory Board for Taco Time International helping the parent company with franchise relations, and on the Regional Marketing Committee, placing local advertising dollars.
He move to Las Vegas in 1987, and managed a ceramic tile and marble warehouse. After a couple of years with them he began work as a land surveyor. He worked for a few different companies and his last project was on the Mandalay Bay Hotel. He was a party chief on that job. When the Mandalay Bay was complete, there were no other major projects lined up, and he went to a seminar on Nevada Corporations.
Lew learned that with a corporation one could separate your business and personal life. It was a revelation to him. If he’d had a corporation while he was in the restaurant business, it would have saved considerable time, energy and peace of mind. He went to work for the company that put on the seminar, and they set up Nevada Corporations for people, and invested in real estate, using business entities. Then he saw a promotional piece from Nevada Corporate Headquarters, Inc. (NCH) and they were doing much of what the other company was talking about doing, some time in the future.
He went to work for NCH, and spent the next ten years helping thousands of entrepreneurs incorporate. His title, whether coach, advisor, or trainer, the work was the same. He taught first-time entrepreneurs how to properly use their business entity, how to stay in compliance, and how to keep their company records current. Lew has also presented at many seminars on the topic of corporate formalities.
Lew enjoys meeting entrepreneurs who are starting their new businesses, and learning about their business model and their aspirations. Now, as a coach with Pinnacle Business Coaching, Lew has the opportunity to help new business owners build and and grow their businesses, and help them on the road to success. He gets a thrill when someone he has helped reaches - and exceeds – their goals in business and in life.
